Belita McDonald was born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised on a farm in beautiful rural Jefferson County.  She and her sisters began helping in the kitchen at a very early age.  She fondly remembers transforming bits of dough into crude works of art.  That is where her love for food and art began.  The holidays always brought special excitement helping her mommaw Mary and mother Marilyn make beautiful treats.  She has always had a passion for tasty and beautiful things.  Her culinary experience is quite diverse from working at a small, well known place on the Ohio River to a local casino to private aviation catering.  In 2010 she gathered her experiences and decided to start Derby City Chocolates.  A short list of VIP’s that have experienced her chocolate art are then Senator Obama and his family, The Clinton family, Hugh Hefner, Prince Rainier of Monaco, Colin Powell and Michael Jordan, just to name a few.  She hopes that you get as much pleasure by looking at her artwork as well as tasting it and that you will share this pleasure with your colleagues, clients, family and friends.
